20+80 A California Summer Music Celebration!

California Summer Music will celebrate its 20th Anniversary this July, as well as the 80th birthday of its co-founder and Artistic Director, Irene Sharp. Join us for a gala concert and reception on Sunday, July 19 at 3:00pm in Schroeder Hall. The concert will feature student and faculty performing works by a variety of composers. The reception follows immediately afterward - come celebrate with us! Celebrating 20 years! California Summer Music was founded in 1996. Originally based at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, CA, CSM moved north to Sonoma State University in sunny Rohnert Park, CA in 2009. CSM is a thriving environment for young musicians and composers to learn, grow, and achieve their goals through the unique experience of music making. Every summer, we provide each emerging artist highly individualized, quality musical training and mentoring with CSM faculty and internationally renowned guest artists. Happy 80th Birthday! California Summer Music was founded in 1996 by Irene Sharp. Born in Germany, she moved to the United States at age 4, growing up in Pittsburgh, PA and later attending the Carnegie Mellon School of Music. Currently, she is an internationally acclaimed teacher on the faculties of the Mannes College of Music and the University of California at Berkeley. She maintains private studios in San Francisco, Palo Alto and New York City. Professor Emeritus at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Ms. Sharp has served on the faculties of Meadowmount School for Strings, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, and Indiana University's String Academy. In 1992, Ms. Sharp received an Outstanding Teacher award from ASTA. Presented by California Summer Music.
